So….About Those 2014 New Year’s Resolutions

I am sure you are scratching your head just like me and are asking yourself where has the year gone. Did I really just squander the past 9 months of my life. You unearth your 2014 New Year’s resolutions – to much dismay and with great discouragement- you shuffle it back to wherever you last found it. Many of your good intentions written with much confidence in January are now long forgotten. If you’re like me, in your head you have already appropriated space for the next set of resolutions that you will like to accomplish NEXT year in 2015 when presented with a brand new slate and opportunities to start over.

How about we start over now. There is no better time than the present. You see tomorrow is not promised to us. The best decision one can make in planning for the future is starting today. Small measurable and consistent changes are what make the world of difference. You grand plans for 2015 may see the same fate of 2014 if there is no action behind it. You see our lives are laced with great intentions but very little action. Action requires that we plan,  get out of our comfort zone and do things differently. Why I hate Running

Running …..blah!


I stood in my trainer’s kitchen as she outlined our workout routine for the evening. I heard hills and I heard running and my heart started racing. You see, my version of exercise does not consist of running unless I am being chased by something or someone. The idea of bated breaths and quick exertion in no way entices me. I am a neophyte to this form of exercise and had very little desire to be experienced in this particular craft. I could think of 1,000 excuses why I should not be doing this. My reality: I had to literally take this workout one stride at a time.

So I started. With high knees, one foot in front of the other and a slow yet regulated pace. My goal was simply to make it to the end. My calculated thoughts was even breathing and forward movement. A little bit of self-talk said, ‘You will make it there eventually. Just keep going!’” Before I knew it, I became winded and my heart started racing begging for there to be an immediate end in sight.
