My Life Song – A Psalm of Kim

God Lead Me

Last Sunday, At church we were challenged to write a Psalm – A Life Song that spoke from our heart to our God. Here is mine:

My Life Song – A Psalm of Kim

I stare over the open seas

Like waves,

I’m tossed one way and twirled the next.

Trying to be Mary in a world of Marthas

Trying my best to wait on God

To trust in God.

I watch the  waves

Spell-bound by the technique of their motions.

Though troubled at times,

It’s the song of the ocean.

I watch them move so gracefully

Leap so skilfully

Sway so rhythmically

With fluid grasp.

They banter the shore

Sometimes mildly

Other times with force.

Holding nothing,

They give

They take.

Taking snails

Leaving sea-shells.

I ponder His mind

His ways in this hour.

He says

Still your heart,

I’ll show you my power.

I’ve got questions:

Who Am I?

Why Am I here?

What’s next?

What do you want from me?

What do you want me to do?

When and How do you want me to do it?

Where do you want me to go?

When do you want me to go?

Who do you want me to go to?

 HIS Response:

Stop talking.

Start listening.

Still your heart.

Let’s dance.

I want you to simply be

Stop fidgeting

Come dance with me.

Stay with me

Enjoy my company.

What song are we dancing to?

Is it mine or is it yours?

Let me tell you what music I like:

Something with lots of bass of course.

HIS Response:

Kim, my Daughter

It may sound like a metronome at first

Basic – Simple – Boring

But Keep in step

It’s an adventure.

It will evolve

There will be high notes

There will be low notes

Sometimes you will move swiftly

Other times it may seem like you

Are dancing without me.

My praise will resound

From your mouth to My ears

Your spirit will soar

As you release all your cares

Your Life Song

A True song

A New song

Our song

Trust me

You’ll know my groove

Take me hand

I’ll lead you through

I’ll be here

I’ll take the lead

Follow my footsteps

and you will see.

We’re writing this song

And I want you to move

Your feet become beautiful when

You do what I do.

Watch where I start

It does not matter

where I take you

Hold my hand

I’ll never leave you.

We’ll make music together

Testimonies to come

My power flows through you

You and I are one.

From now ’till the end

I want you to dance.

To the Life Song  we’re writing,

I’ll show you the path.

The song that you hear

It’s an original composition

You’ll hear

Provision – Protection

Instruction – Direction

I will dance to this song

as long as You lead

Though the melody changes at times.

Your Presence I know I’ll feel.

HIS Response:

This Life Song is our Love Song

I’m  Yours

You’ll always been MINE.

How beautiful! And I think the world has a place for the Mary’s AND the Martha’s, although it’s hard to know when to act more like one than the other!

I love this! I have been a soul-searching journey for the past year or so and have really gotten down to business in the last month or so. I loved the lines “Trust me/ and you will know my groove” and the ending lines, “This life song is our love song/ I’m yours/ and you will always be mine” Love, love, love.

beautifully written.. it could be put to music and made into a song!

Very nice, Kim! “Come dance with me…” Ahhh I love this vision of God asking all of His children to come dance with Him. May we all say, “YES!”
