OH THY WORD!
John 1: 1-3, 14
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made…The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
This passage of scripture is one of the most profound pieces of literature ever written since the inception of time. At the core of this paragraph lies revelation intricately woven together until the time appointed; the Word would atone for us. The apostle John presents a valid case for Christ. Since the beginning of time, Jesus was; today: He is, and for the future, He will continue to be. It is on this premise that I base my statement of faith.
The word integrity comes to mind when I ponder on this truth.
His Father made him known, John the Baptizer spoke of His coming, and when He arrived, He fulfilled the words spoken by many of the prophets. What was spoken by Him and about Him aligned exactly with His purpose while present on this earth. Jesus was a man of virtue; His word was His bond.
Oh Thy Word reminds me daily of your commitment and your compassion. It empowers me to live a life focused on others and not myself. It commissions me for a work that is only made possible by God’s spirit. Oh Thy Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
The Kingdom of God was inaugurated with his physical ministry and will be consummated when He returns in all His glory. This wonderful disclosure began with The Word. It was by This Word, we became Children of God. It is not by my will, but by His grace that I am now born of God. It was with His Word that I confessed and repented, pleading that He be my Savior and Lord. Promised in the Word, that His body would not see decay, I rejoice that the nails sealed my sins to the cross. The blood of the Word cleansed this sinner. Clinging to His Word and to the promise of salvation, I was immersed. Now comforted by, edified with, and constantly abiding in His Word, the Holy Spirit reminds me daily of everything spoken by The Living Word. He did exactly what He said He would do and the story is still not over. If this is not integrity personified, then I have no clue how better to explain it.
As a follower of Jesus and a believer in His word, I too must strive to be a living epistle read by all men and women. My life must also exude all these qualities. This is the most tangible expression of my word. I realize that living the word speaks more powerfully than preaching the word. This is the ultimate game changer.
This is my personal statement of faith
