Commit – My One Word for 2015

Kimberly B One Word Large - Commit

Happy New Year! Hope you gals and guys had a wonderful Christmas Season. It’s been over a week since I have taken time to write. While away, my intention was to spend treasured time with family and for so much needed introspection. Both of which were accomplished. The latter went in a direction, I did not expect. More on that later.

Waking early one morning, I unearthed the digital copy of my 2014 goals eager to see what I had accomplished. To my dismay, many of these lofty goals had gone undone. I had plans but failed to complete what I set out to do. I felt a sense of defeat and found myself throwing a mini-pity party where I was the chief celebrant rousing the popular chorus of “Woe is Me.”. In the midst of the ugly face and my pouted lips, God decided to rain on my parade. Read more

Can I Trust Him? – My Concerns & His Response

Can I Trust Him - Feat. Pic

Can I Trust Him?

As I sit here, I mull over the conditions of His love and it overwhelms me. No condition – I mean nothing can keep Him from pursuing me! No mountain, no valley, neither death, nor sickness, nor mess ups nor failures can keep me from His love. His love for me is UNCONDITIONAL. He pursues me hard. I do not have to strive for His love or sell my body and soul for it. Nothing can separate me from Him. He loves me and I try my best to love Him too but can He be trusted. I admit; I find it so hard to trust Him at times. Read more

Oh Thy Word – A Statement of Faith

OH THY WORD - Featured PIc

OH THY WORD!

John 1: 1-3, 14

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made…The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

This passage of scripture is one of the most profound pieces of literature ever written since the inception of time. At the core of this paragraph lies revelation intricately woven together until the time appointed; the Word would atone for us. The apostle John presents a valid case for Christ. Since the beginning of time, Jesus was; today: He is, and for the future, He will continue to be. It is on this premise that I base my statement of faith. Read more

Farther Than I Meant To Go

The Trails

It was farther than I meant to go and longer than I meant to stay…

Have you ever found yourself going around in circles? I am not talking about the twirls you do in the middle of the grocery isle while no one else is looking 😉 . I am referring to frustrations you feel when you’re deliberately seeking the end of a task or journey and it seems like no end is in sight. It seems like you constantly end up back to where back where you started. Can I get an Amen if you have been there?…AMEN! I hope I am in good company cause I have been there and done that and here is ONE of my stories: Read more

Lord, Teach Us to Pray – A Guide to Prayer Taught by Jesus

Lord, Teach Us to Pray

Luke, the physician and author, presents his readers with an account of Jesus’ times of prayer in the first of his two-part volume describing the life and ministry of Jesus. In Luke 11, concluding a time of heavenly communion with the Father, Jesus is surrounded by His disciples when one dared to ask, “Teach us to pray (!)”

These men had been in the company of the Messiah, heard Him preach and teach with authority, and witnessed the restorative healing of the sick and righteous dominion over demonic forces. Such power exerted from the Son of God should bare many questions, yet the pertinent request on their minds in the moment was: teach us to pray. Read more

Bless The Lord – For The Times You Don’t Feel Like It

Dear Soul

Dear Soul, Bless The Lord

So your weekend may have not been the best and you woke up all in your feelings about certain people and things in and outside of  your control and you are about to succumb to these feelings ruining/running your day…This is for you:

I have learned that you cannot live a life that thrives based on fickle emotions. Our emotions must be subjected to truth. David, in Psalm 103, commands his soul to bless the Lord in spite of the situations he was facing at present – failed marriages, adultery, murder on his hands, his own son seeking to kill him, abdication of his throne, raped daughter, a nation in turmoil…Ummm…Let’s just say that he had enough drama for a few seasons of Scandal. Go…Ready…Set! – Guest Post by Ali Kennedy

Ali Kennedy

Today’s post is a guest feature by one of my dear friends: Ali Kennedy.

Ali and I met when we received jobs at Christian Union Princeton University. Since then, we have been office-mates, room-mates.  Carved pumpkins and built ginger bread mansions. Hosted barbecues and dinner-dates. We have laughed and cried together. Cast vision and expressed frustration together. We spent many times locked in our office praying for each other. We’ve sought each other for wise counsel.

We cheered on as we watched our men graduate together.

Princeton Theological Seminary Graduation

I served as one of her bridesmaids and cheered her on when she later married her man:

I Give Thanks for A Horse, A Cop, & 3 Musketeers

I give thanks

I Give Thanks

I have so many reasons to give thanks today. I am a grateful beneficiary to 3600 additional seconds of sweet slumber. Yes indeed, I fell back on my down feathered pillow and enjoyed every morsel of sweet sleep my God granted.  I awoke to the sun’s amber rays seeping through my blinds with its desire to touch the silhouette of my face. The warm embrace of my husband’s chilled signaled the beginning of another Sunday. It is a Sunday where as the Tri-Cities church community we gather together in worship for worship to our God. We sing, we praise, we pray, we give thanks.  We celebrate!

I stop. I listen. I send silent whispers of Thank You’s to heaven for a horse, a cop, and three musketeers:  Read more

Dream Now — So You Can Live

Dreams to Reality[otw_shortcode_dropcap label=”H” font=”Rock Salt” size=”large” border_color_class=”otw-no-border-color”][/otw_shortcode_dropcap]ave you ever had a dream so big that it consumes you? A dream so gargantuan that it frightens you. A dream so pressing that it will take the energies of more than one person to bring it to fruition as soon as possible. A dream so intuitive that it takes foresight, insight, hindsight, and a crazy dose of faith. Many want to live a more fulfilled and rich life but your dreaming determines your living.

It is said that the poorest person in the world is one without a dream. We are not living unless we are dreaming. Many times we find the very essence of our existence embedded in the dreams we have been given. To follow these dreams we must get uncomfortable. It requires that we remove ourselves from our comfort zone and pursue a path that will almost always place us in a place of vulnerability. Read more
