It seems as each year begins, I make decisions to do better, to live better, to be better. My heart and mind are consumed with best practices—you know– the things you “should” be doing. If you are like me, you sit down with pen and paper – Some with the fancy- smancy glitter metallic inks pens while others use a basic No. 2 lead pencil. Happy Friday! So, here is what’s new in my world: I have decided to participate in the Day Zero Project where I set out to complete 101 things in 1001 days. cue Rocky Theme song* This colossal challenge will end on my 33rd birthday 😀 hopefully with many remarkable stories to tell along the way. This gives me < 3 years to accomplish the goals I have identified. I will date and strike-through each item as it is completed. My hope is to take lots of pictures, learn many lessons, celebrate the everyday victories, and love my neighbors in the process. So, Ladies & Gentlemen… I present to you

I am sure you are scratching your head just like me and are asking yourself where has the year gone. Did I really just squander the past 9 months of my life. You unearth your 2014 New Year’s resolutions – to much dismay and with great discouragement- you shuffle it back to wherever you last found it. Many of your good intentions written with much confidence in January are now long forgotten. If you’re like me, in your head you have already appropriated space for the next set of resolutions that you will like to accomplish NEXT year in 2015 when presented with a brand new slate and opportunities to start over.
How about we start over now. There is no better time than the present. You see tomorrow is not promised to us. The best decision one can make in planning for the future is starting today. Small measurable and consistent changes are what make the world of difference. You grand plans for 2015 may see the same fate of 2014 if there is no action behind it. You see our lives are laced with great intentions but very little action. Action requires that we plan, get out of our comfort zone and do things differently. It is said that the poorest person in the world is one without a dream. We are not living unless we are dreaming. Many times we find the very essence of our existence embedded in the dreams we have been given. To follow these dreams we must get uncomfortable.
