Starting: It’s been a while since I have written. The past year has been filled with many good changes and also some challenges but they all have been rich. My tendency is to simply let them be and not document all that has occurred. Read more
Yesterday, I began a series called Quick to Listen – Slow to Speak – It’s all about guarding our thoughts and our tongue to ensure we protect ourselves and those around us. You can find the first installment here. Today we are going to focus on
Today we are going to focus on Mastering Our Thoughts:
So I am sitting here trying to center myself so I can drop some wisdom on the blog and the chorus that keeps playing in my head is from an old 1970’s R&B ballad made famous by the Temptations. You may know it: ♪ It’s just my imagination running away with me ♪ If not, check out this timeless song below:
Love’s goal is to complete us to ensure that we lack no good thing.
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything,”
‘If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.’ – 1 Corinthians 13: 1-3Read more
Love holds the power to turn any coward into a hero. It sharpens our vision to see the every day through a lens of beauty. The mundane of the ordinary is transformed into a kaleidoscope of opportunity. The impossible now seems possible. The hard things are worth it. Hope is now tangible. You are determined to press a little further, plunge a little deeper, and climb a little higher because daily Love unfolds from its magical rapture.
It seems as each year begins, I make decisions to do better, to live better, to be better. My heart and mind are consumed with best practices—you know– the things you “should” be doing. If you are like me, you sit down with pen and paper – Some with the fancy- smancy glitter metallic inks pens while others use a basic No. 2 lead pencil. You devise a plan – be it idealistic or realistic. You are determined to make a change.
BUT I WANT YOU TO STOP

As I sit here, I mull over the conditions of His love and it overwhelms me. No condition – I mean nothing can keep Him from pursuing me! No mountain, no valley, neither death, nor sickness, nor mess ups nor failures can keep me from His love. His love for me is UNCONDITIONAL. He pursues me hard. I do not have to strive for His love or sell my body and soul for it. Nothing can separate me from Him. He loves me and I try my best to love Him too but can He be trusted. I admit; I find it so hard to trust Him at times. Read more

Have you ever found yourself going around in circles? I am not talking about the twirls you do in the middle of the grocery isle while no one else is looking 😉 . I am referring to frustrations you feel when you’re deliberately seeking the end of a task or journey and it seems like no end is in sight. It seems like you constantly end up back to where back where you started. Can I get an Amen if you have been there?…AMEN! I hope I am in good company cause I have been there and done that and here is ONE of my stories: Read more
It’s #fbf or Flashback Friday as we call it in these parts. All over the World Wide Web, photos are shared as we dote over the cute pics of the past or commiserate with those who need to burn them forever. Either way, we take time to remember who we were back then. In lieu of this, I’ve decided to dig into the archives and pull out something that I wrote over 4 years ago. It was the manuscript to the commencement speech given to the Graduating Class of 2010 at Pathway Christian School in East Point, GA. A school I might add no longer exists. Wesley and I had the privilege of speaking to the final graduating class. My former self was preaching to my present self after reading this!
My mind did a time-lapse as I recalled the circumstances surrounding the preparation of this speech. Back then, I was a store clerk in the GCSU college bookstore and Wesley was the preaching minister at First Christian Church in Milledgeville, GA. I remember my dear friend, Lekha, stopping by the bookstore one Thursday to check in on me. Her words of encouragement help birth this speech.
It encouraged me today. I hope it does the same for you. Grab your favorite beverage and get comfortable cause this post is a long one…AHEM*clears throat*
Happy Friday! So, here is what’s new in my world: I have decided to participate in the Day Zero Project where I set out to complete 101 things in 1001 days. cue Rocky Theme song* This colossal challenge will end on my 33rd birthday 😀 hopefully with many remarkable stories to tell along the way. This gives me < 3 years to accomplish the goals I have identified. I will date and strike-through each item as it is completed. My hope is to take lots of pictures, learn many lessons, celebrate the everyday victories, and love my neighbors in the process. So, Ladies & Gentlemen… I present to you
