I Want To Be A Daddy’s Girl

Kimspeaks up - Daddy's Girl

OH TO BE A DADDY’S GIRL

It’s been 21 years since my father passed away yet I felt from the time I was born I never knew him. I had his initials and his last name but not his heart nor his attention. Truth is: I have always wanted to be a Daddy’s girl. I am furious and saddened but I must first acknowledge it before I let it go. Read more

Lately, I have been burdened for men. I found myself reading Brené Brown’s Daring Greatly  and as my eyes perused the pages, my smile faded and tears started to form. Glaring research shows that women daily shame the men in their lives. Read more

Love Is – Day 8

Kim Speaks Up - Let Love Perfect You

Love’s goal is to complete us to ensure that we lack no good thing.

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds,  because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything,”

If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.’1 Corinthians 13: 1-3 Read more

Love Is – Day 6

Kim Speaks Up...Love Is - Day 6

Love is at times letting go…

Love is releasing what is good for God’s best. It is believing no plan you have concocted for you and those you love is superior to His ways. It is reminding your soul to constantly put your hope in Jesus even when you heart is truly aching. I knew this day would come, I hoped it would be 20 more years from now.

Love is Day 4

Love is staring at your reflection in the mirror and admiring every blemish and scar. It is affirming that it does not define you but bears witness to your experience and growth throughout your life’s history. Love is stroking your wrinkles, love handles, stress marks, and burns and acknowledging that life has happened then appreciating that life has happened. Yes, life has happened. You have lived. You have matured. You have changed. Read more
